PURPOSES OF VISIT

The Standard Visitor Visa covers a range of travel purposes, including:

  • Tourism & Leisure
    Travel to the UK for holidays, sightseeing, or visiting family and friends.
  • Business Visits
    Attend meetings, conferences, training sessions, or other permitted business activities. This visa does not allow you to undertake paid work in the UK.
  • Short-Term Study
    Study a short course for up to 6 months at an accredited institution.
  • Medical Treatment
    Receive private medical treatment in the UK.
  • Other Permitted Activities
    This includes academic visits, taking exams, or participating in certain short-term programmes.

 

KEY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for a UK Visitor Visa, applicants must demonstrate that:

  • They will leave the UK at the end of their visit
    • They do not intend to live in the UK through frequent or successive visits
    • They have a genuine purpose of visit
    • They can financially support themselves (and any dependants) during the trip
    • They will not access public funds

 

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

Applicants are required to provide sufficient evidence to support their application, which may include:

  • A valid passport or travel document
    • Details of travel plans (if available)
    • Evidence of financial means (e.g. bank statements, payslips)
    • Proof of ties to home country (employment, business, family)
    • Travel history and previous visas (if applicable)
    • Invitation letter (if visiting family, friends, or for business)
    • Employer letter (for business visits)

All documents not in English or Welsh must be accompanied by a certified translation.
